A herb in the kitchen having many benefits - did you know Dill?

Dill is an annual herb that has finely divided soft delicate leaves that looks similar to fennel. It is used mainly for cooking purposes to flavour food. It has excellent carminative properties. It soothes the digestive system and is used in Ayurveda for the treatment of ulcers, fever, cardiac problems, bronchitis, spermatorrhea, syphilis and menstrual disorders.

Dill is rich in calcium and can be used to treat rheumatoid arthritis. Due to its characteristic fragrance, it is used as mouth cleanser. Dill can be used to cure insomnia, cold, fever, respiratory illnesses, diarrhoea, dysentery and flatulence.

Dill leaves are used in the preparation of dill dip, sauce and dill pickle. Finely chopped dill can be added to curds or butter milk. Fresh dill leaves are the best. The seeds of dill plants and dill seed oil also have medicinal benefits. Dill seeds can be used in the preparation of herbal tea.
